There is something special about SpongeBob SquarePants that makes it a cartoon that people of all ages enjoy. And since children, teenagers and adults are all fans of the show, SpongeBob is a great television show for families to watch together.

This month is SpongeBob's 10th anniversary and Nickelodeon wants to celebrate with the "Ultimate SpongeBob SpongeBash Weekend" from July 17-19, 2009. That weekend, Nickelodeon will air 50 hours of SpongeBob programming, hosted by Patchy the Pirate. This will include 11 premiere episodes and a top-10 countdown of celebrities favorites episodes. Fans can also vote for their favorite episode, and the top-10 fan voted episodes will also be aired.

Before the weekend even begins, VH1 will premiere a documentary on Tuesday, July 14 at 9 p.m. Square Roots: The Story of SpongeBob SquarePants, is a documentary chronicling the character's rise to pop culture status.

The 50-hour marathon will premiere on Nickelodeon at 8 p.m. on Friday, July 17 with a brand new episode. Then on Saturday, July 18th beginning at 10 a.m., the 10 most memorable episodes voted on by fans will be aired. The SpongeBob SquarePants movie will be shown Saturday night at 8 p.m. The celebrities favorite episodes will begin Sunday, July 19 at 10 a.m. followed by the other 10 all new episodes.
