Reggae Group Jahfe

I know it is tempting to stay home and watch the premiers of so many good shows tonight- but put your TIVOS on and get your butt out the door.  If you live in or near  downtown West Palm Beach there is no excuse to spend your Thursday nights at home. Clematis by Night is held every Thursday from 6-9:30 p.m. in Centennial Square at the top of Clematis Street.  Party with thousands of people from all over South Florida as you rock out to the Fountainside Concert Series.  The shops are open and the areas best restaurants come out to offer a taste of their delicious menus.

Make sure to check out popular reggae group Jahfe as they bring their laid back vibe and songs of peace to this FREE weekly event.

And now for the Weird Event of the Week.

** On a side note - I hope I do not offend if I call your event weird.  I revel in the strange and unusual events that come to South Florida and I mean "weird" in the best way possible **

Japanese Cosplay (short for Costume Play) is a growing trend here in the United States.  It is a type of performance art where the participants outfit themselves in elaborate costumes and accessories, often as a specific character many times sourced from Japanes media - Manga, Anime, Comic Books, Graphic Novels etc.

This Saturday and Sunday (September 27-28) the Palm Beach County Convention Center will be transformed into all things Cosplay with the Chibi-Pa Anime and Japanese Culture Festival.  Pre-registration is now closed but you can buy tickets at the door Saturday from 8am (events begin at 10) - 7 p.m. and Sunday from 8-6 p.m.  A weekend pass is only $20 and a ticket for Sunday only is $10 and FREE for a parent accompanying a child.

Events will include a Cosplay Tri-Athalon where costumed participants will join together and perform tasks and challenges for prizes as well as a Cosplay costume contest and Improv contest.  Panels run from fan painting to Advanced Rock, Paper, Scissors.  Japanese style game shows will be played and stars from the famous game show (now on G4TV) Ninja Star will be there.

I am most looking forward to the Kaiju Fight Fight Dancey Dance where participants in monster costumes fight it out Anime style in the ring to the hottest Electronica by Owl Radio and J*Scape.  Where else can you root for Mothra to beat Sailor Moon?

Other Area Events Today:

From now until Sunday the Palm Beach Catamaran Sightseeing Cruise is giving tours from 10:30 - 12:20 daily for only $28 for adults and $14 for children.  It is a great way to see Palm Beach as you never have before.

The Cruzan Ampitheater is welcoming 3 Doors Down tonight at 7 p.m. http://www.livenation.com/venue/getVenue/venueId/1619.

Sesame Street Live is back tonight at the Kravis Center at 7 p.m.   http://www.kravis.org/.

Happy Thursday!
