Ending months of speculation and purported authentic on-line trailers, the Disney/ Tim Burton directed blockbuster, Alice in Wonderland has finally released astounding still images of the 3-D film that is now set to bow in theaters March 5, 2010.
The movie’s characters portrayed by Mia Wasikowska as Alice Kingsley; Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter; Anne Hathaway as the White Queen, and Helena Bonham Carter .as the Red Queen, along with Matt Lucas portraying the dual role of.Tweedledee and Tweedledum take on a definite ‘Burton-esque’ look in the Associated Press pictures that were released by Disney.
Alice in Wonderland, shot in 40 days and now in postproduction, is state of the art filmmaking, which utilizes live actor performances melded with CGI animation and motion capture technology.
Judging from the almost stark, nightmarish pictures that presently take on a bright-as-day acrylic look; the film is poised to bring the Charles Lutwidge Dodgson a/k/a Lewis Carroll classic to life, when finished off with Burton’s traditional darker cinematic touches.
According to a USA Today interview, conducted with the film’s producer, Richard D. Zanuck, Alice is now portrayed as a 17-year-old, with Carroll’s original story being enhanced by screenwriter, Linda Woolverton.
Zanuck was quoted as saying, "The book itself is pretty dark.” And, he added, "This is for little people and people who read it when they were little 50 years ago."
Time will tell if this vivid translation of the story is meant for the youngest set, as Burton adds his oil painting like, finishing brush strokes.
