A. Lange & Sohne Lange 1 Watch in Platinum
If there was ever a justification to purchase a high-end luxury watch, Saxony's A. Lange & Sohne is it. Germany's most exclusive watch maker is based in the popular watch making town of Glashutte (that the brand actually helped make what it is today). With prices averaging 35,000 - 40,000 euros (but going way up), each watch is a good value given what you get, despite the serious luxury price.
Each A. Lange & Sohne watch undergoes a strenuous production process starting with each component of the movement being made in-house, to decoration, assembly, and then finally testing (and retesting). The process takes teams of skilled people months to complete. After realizing this fact in addition to the high grade materials used in each watch, the prices start to seem quite reasonable given the new family heirloom you've just acquired. Seen here is the watch that put Lange Uhren back on the map during its mid 1990s relaunch, the Lange 1. This was the very definition of "avant garde" when it was released for its unique asymmetrical layout that incorporates the time, "out-size" date, subsidiary seconds hand, and a power reserve indicator. All with a manufacture-made manually-wound movement in a solid 18k gold (white or yellow) or platinum case. Luxury at its finest, really.
