Those of you who are staying in town for the 4th of July weekend will have no shortage of cultural events to add to your mix of fireworks, burgers and fun. These events will take their final bow during the holiday weekend, so this will be your last chance to get in on them before they are gone.

Artomatic

This weekend is your last chance to see the tower of artistic expression that is Artomatic. In addition to showcasing the work of visual artists, they have film screenings, musical performances and workshops where you can participate.

There will be face painting and  an art activity for kids on July 4.

Women Beware Women

If the play's your thing, you can go to the Shakespeare Theatre's Capitol Hill location to watch students from the Shakespeare Theatre's Academy of Classical Acting perform. This is no amateurish stuff, either. There are costumes, props and the actors are top notch. Women Beware Women by Thomas Middleton, a play that spans the divide between farce, comedy and tragedy in a most entertaining way, will be performed tonight, July 3 at 7:30 pm end its run with a 2pm performance on July 5. Smithsonian Folklife Festival

Each summer,  the Smithsonian chooses several countries/cultural traditions to display in a free festival on the National Mall. This year the Smithsonian Folklife Festival's outdoor workshops and performances are divided into three components: Giving Voice (African American storytelling tradition), Las Américas (the music of Latin America) and the country of Wales.
