The Rebirth

In case you were unaware, the Freer Gallery of Art does more than showcase interesting Asian artwork; it is also a place to see Asian films that you might not see otherwise.

Since November 7, they've been featuring Japanese films as part of the series Roads to the Interior: Another Side of Japanese Cinema aims to show you films that feature introspective journeys. These films demonstrate a Japan that is set apart from the anime and pop culture that shouts for your attention.

During the film series' closing weekend (Dec, 12-14), Director Masahiro Kobayashi will be on hand for the screenings of his films, including "Bootleg Film" "Bashing," and "The Rebirth."

Tickets are required, but they are FREE. You can line up one hour prior to each show to get up to two free tickets per person. Visit www.asia.si.edu/events/films.asp to read film descriptions.
