Representative Michelle Bachmann (R) from Minnesota has called upon citizens to once again converge on Washington in a last minute protest to stop the House from passing Obama’s health care reform bill this week. She is asking tea party protestors and all concerned citizens to, not just protest outside, but actually go to congressional offices and visit their representatives.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is pushing for a vote on the 1,990 page legislative mammoth, HR 3962, on Thursday or Friday this week. Simultaneously, the Republicans will be introducing their legislation for health care reform as an alternative to the Democrats’ plan.

The events start at noon on the Capitol steps with Rep. Bachmann, actor Jon Voight, and talk show host Mark Levin as speakers for the rally. Protestors will then go into the congressional offices to speak with their representatives and leave copies of protest letters.

How To Get There:

By Bus

Annapolis, Truman Parkway Park & Ride, departing at 9:30 a.m. Free, but tip to driver expected. Contact: Faith Loudon at faith.loudon@verizon.net.

Bel Air, 220 South Main Street, parking in lot catecorner. Departing at 9:00 a.m. and returning at 5:00 p.m. $30 includes bus, lunch, and water. Contact: Bel Air Tea Party, Tony Passaro, 443-350-0520.

Carpools

Westminster Park & Ride at Routes 97 and 32, departing at 10:00 a.m.

Mount Airy Park & Ride on Route 27, departing at 10:30 a.m. to the Shady Grove metro. Arrival in DC by 11:30 a.m.

It’s a $7 one-way fare from Penn Station in Baltimore to Washington DC’s Union Station. Parking fees are $12 per day. It’s about a three block walk from there to the Capitol.

By Washington Metro

Drive down to the New Carrollton Metro Station outside DC and take the orange line to the Capitol South station. The one-way fare is $3.10. Parking at New Carrollton is $4.25. It’s just a few blocks to the Capitol from the station.

What to bring:
• Copies of protest letters for senators and congressmen
• Video camera
• Signs

Prohibitions in the Capitol:
Any bag larger than 14" wide x 13" high x 4" deep is prohibited.
And remember, no weapons! Resist the temptation and leave your guns and knives at home.
