'Sorcha Faal' disinformation on net neutrality: what does it mean, really?

For nearly five years, a foolhardy website, WhatDoesItMean.com, has been publishing absurdly outlandish news reports under the authorship of Sorcha Faal, an equally peculiar pen name that is used by one (or more) malevolent writer(s). On further examination, it appears that Sorcha Faal – a name that is, ironically, inspired by the website’s title, WhatDoesItMean.com – is concurrently claiming to be Sister Maria Theresa, Mother Superior of the Sisters of Sorcha Faal, in addition to being crowned the 73rd Sorcha Faal of the Sorcha Faal Order. As this cultish deception is downright sadistic, it must be noted that, in reality, no Church actually recognizes this alleged group as a legitimate religious order.

Yesterday, in the most recent act of perpetuating doom-and-gloom disinformation, the writer(s) behind Sorcha Faal imprudently posted an article on net neutrality that is – as is typical – preposterously misleading, and filled with flat-out lies. The basis for this report is three-fold: first, Newsday’s recently announced policy to charge for access to most content on its website as of next Wednesday; second, a report that Hulu.com may start charging subscription fees “at some point” in the future; third, a May Financial Times article, in which News Corp. chairman Rupert Murdoch acknowledged his company’s “plans to start charging for online content from general interest newspapers.”

In the mish-mash that ensues, one lie is immediately apparent: the writer improperly notes that The Times Mirror Company owns Newsday, when in fact Cablevision is the owner of this newspaper, and has been for well over a year. [UPDATE: the demonic operators of WhatDoesItMean.com and Sorcha Faal have secretly updated their report to include the true owner of Newsday, which is Cablevision, in an effort to discredit myself and/or to willfully confuse readers. The original copy of the Sorcha Faal report is indexed here, and both digital and hard copies of these facts have been saved in order to uphold the truth about the actions of these sick, twisted indivduals. If the Publisher of Rumormillnews.com modifies the contents of this nonsense report, she too will be exposed as a libelous, diversionary puppet.] As the deliberately depressing gobbledygook continues, an unattainable conspiracy between the US government, media giants and major corporations is depicted:

The greatest danger being faced by these Americans in all of this is simple, they are ONLY going to be told what their corporate/government masters want them to know and are going to be kept in a perpetual state of fear so that they can be more easily managed and manipulated as they are robbed of their money, jobs, dignity and honor to the point they will be rendered as nothing more than debt slaves in service to their billionaire masters.

The argument being made – which, by the way, falls flat on its face, because it will never happen – is that our “corporate/government masters” want to shut out any competition on the Internet, thereby allowing the oligopoly of media conglomerates to control all online content, and in turn, place themselves in a position to entirely dictate what Americans read and learn. The Sorcha Faal writer ignorantly suggests that, for all intents and purposes, the First Amendment will magically disappear, while rational individuals will note that it will continue to flourish, as it has for nearly 220 years; furthermore, our society has demonstrated a recognized appreciation for independent blogs and websites like Examiner.com, and neither of these revolutionary platforms will disappear either – although websites like WhatDoesItMean.com surely will at some point.

By now, you may be wondering why I would even call attention to this imbecilic cyberspace creation, and the answer is straighforward: a lot of people visit the site, including some at the US Department of Homeland Security.

Per Quantcast’s “rough estimate” (that I believe seriously understates this website’s actual audience size) in the US alone, about 30,000 people visit WhatDoesItMean.Com every month. The real kicker, however, is that Quantcast also shows that those who read the Sorcha Faal reports are likely to visit respected websites like NewsWithViews.com, which receives an estimated 330,000 US people per month, and LewRockwell.com, which reaches up to 375,000 people worldwide each month. The Sorcha Faal reports are also frequently posted at Rumormillnews.com – an alternative, rumor-heavy news site that, according to Quantcast, reaches an estimated 85,000+ US people per month.

In its own capacity, the US Department of Homeland Security has openly acknowledged that it used Sorcha Faal articles – ten of them in fact, more than any other real news outlet – in crafting the infamous report, Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment. It is beyond shameful that absurd websites like WhatDoesItMean.com actually influence official government reports and actions, but they do.

So who is behind the madness that is Sorcha Faal?

WhatDoesItMean.com is registered to David Booth, an infamously debunked plagiarist that may have some involvement in writing the Sorcha Faal reports. The website’s mailing address – 848 North Rainbow Blvd. #2098 Las Vegas, NV 89107 – is directly attributed to a mail forwarding service, which could be, and likely is, used to hide the true identity of who is behind this operation.

Many Internet observers believe that WhatDoesItMean.com is a fear-based US PSYOP – psychological warfare operation to influence behaviors and actions – directly controlled by covert elements within the US intelligence community. This position is certainly plausible when one considers that Hal Turner, a former blogger from New Jersey, claims to have worked for the FBI in a similar capacity; Turner also referenced Sorcha Faal and WhatDoesItMean.com several months before he was arrested for publishing the names and addresses of several Federal judges that he said should be killed.
