Stanford sophomores Kayla Pedersen and Jeanette Pohlen were both in the starting lineup on Thursday when the women's USA Basketball team beat Australia 81-66 in the semifinals of the World University Games in Belgrade, Serbia.

The Americans will play in the gold-medal game on Saturday against the winner of Thursday's other semifinal game between the Czech Republic and Russia.

The United State (6-0) trailed 13-9 in the first quarter when it went on a 25-0 run to take control.   The Australians had several scoring surges of their own to keep it relatively close and outscored the Americans in the final period.

"After we made our runs we got a little complacent," Pedersen said, according to the USA Basketball report.  "It was a good learning experience because we know that Russia (or the Czech Republic) won't let that happen."

Pedersen had seven points and four rebounds and made her only three-point attempt.  Pohlen had five points, three rebounds and three assists.
