Former Stanford player Nicole Powell seemed to break out of her scoring slump, but she could not prevent her team, the Sacramento Monarchs, from letting a game slip away in the closing minutes on Tuesday.

Powell had 21 points, and helped the Monarchs build a five-point lead with 3:29 left.   But the Chicago Sky then scored 11 straight points to pull out a 74-72 victory over the Monarchs in Chicago.

Powell had scored 11 points and two points in her previous two games, going a combined 4-for-19 from the field and 1-for-9 on three-pointers in the process.   But she hit 3 of 6 three-point attempts on Tuesday, and two of the misses came in the closing seconds when Sacramento was launching desperations threes.

Powell also had eight rebounds and two steals and hit all six of her free throws.  Nonethless, the Monarchs dropped to 1-8 and have lost six in a row.
