It's official: 'Jon & Kate plus 8' announce they are separating on tonight's episode

Jon and Kate Gosselin have officially announced that they are separating on June 22nd, 2009. Jon and Kate Gosselin only acknowledged they were separating on tonight's episode. At the end of the hour long show, TLC posted a written blip acknowledging that Jon & Kate filed papers to dissolve their marriage today, June 22nd, 2009.  The Divorce papers were filed today in Pennsylvania.

Jon said "This is the hardest episode ever. I showed up two hours late to shoot it because I had reservations about even doing it."  He goes on to say: "I was too passive. I just let her rule the roost and do whatever she wanted to do, and went along with everything, and now I finally stood up on my own two feet, and I'm proud of myself." Kate said: "It's the next chapter. It's not a chapter that was brought on by the show. It's not a chapter that was brought on by our career choices at all. I believe that it's a chapter that probably would have played out had the world been watching or not."

The Gosselin kids will get the house. Jon and Kate will move in and out depending on who's time it is.

Many Jon & Kate plus 8 fans are left wondering what will happen to they show. Will Jon and Kate continue the show as single parents?

It's interesting that so many people were terribly upset over Jon and Kate calling it quits. The Gosselin divorce tends to bring up one's feelings on divorce in general. Many fans recall how hard it was to watch their own parents get divorced.

We knew ahead of time about Jon & Kate's big announcement, still we are in shock.

We wish Cara, Madelyn, Alexis,Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah and Joel Gosselin well. We hope that Jon and Kate gain peace in their hearts.
