Being a Vegan in a technological world is getting easier by the minute!

20 years ago, vegans had to compile lists of ingredients that were not vegan and spend hours at the grocery store finding the vegan alternatives and options for the foods they loved. With today's advanced technology and some cool new iPhone apps, say goodbye to list compiling and hello to modern technology's way of being a friend to vegans!

For starters, there are now websites such as PETA's I can't believe it's Vegan Website! This website is filled with vegan options for everything from drinks to pie crusts! The first time I went on the site, I was overwhelmed and highly confused. Many of the products on the list I just knew couldn't be vegan, but sure enough as I searched down my favorite box of Cinnamon Teddy Grahams, my eyes almost bulged out of my head at what I saw! Not one ingredient on the list had a trace of animal in it! With a huge grin on my face, I threw two boxes of Teddy Grahams into my basket and hurried to the next item that I saw on Peta's list. Websites like this one can be helpful and instant answering devices for a vegan in crisis mode.

[Warning: Do not believe everything you read on ANY website. Sometimes there is unintentionally wrong information. Always double check your sources before eating anything questionable!]

There truly is an iPhone app for everything and you better believe  there's one for vegans and dining out! VeganXpress is an iPhone app that shows what is vegan at many popular restaurants and coffee shops! Personally, it is my new favorite toy. I search what is vegan at every little place I see. It is a fun and informative application that is highly useful and accurate. I have gotten all my friends to download the app because it is such a relief to not have to search for the vegan menu options. It even has a beer and wine list that is completely vegan! With apps like this, vegan cookbooks and books  will be a thing of the past. Soon, there will be apps on how to be a proper vegan.. oh the days of modern technology! Also, this iPhone app is only $0.99!! What a deal!

Veg Out is another iPhone app that is useful, but I prefer the VeganXpress myself. Veg Out shows you a list of Vegan, Vegetarian or Vegetarian friendly restaurants. While this app may be good for when you are traveling outside of the United States or your local area, I find no real use for it if you have the VeganXpress application. VegOut is definitely a better bet if you are going out of the country, but I would not suggest using it often due to the fact that it does suggest some non vegans meals and any avid vegan would not be thrilled to find out what they just could have eaten!

Finally, communication is key when traveling and if you can't get out what you want to eat, how are you ever going to eat? Don't fret, my dear! There is an application for that! Veggie Passport is an application primarily made to help when ordering food at a restaurant. With over 30 languages to pick from, the traveling vegan can't refuse this application! Just pick your language, what you want to say and show the screen to the waiter! So simple and so easy that anyone can do it.  Modern technology can truly be a vegan's friend if you use it to your advantage.

Check it out for yourself: The only way you can see if something is really helpful is to use it yourself! Download these apps to your phone today and start using them! I guarantee you won't be disappointed.
