Global warming and shrinking sheep

From Yahoo! News I read that global warming is causing sheep in Scotland to shrink in size. The reason is that more underweight lambs live long enough to reproduce, passing along the genes that caused them to be smaller.

In other words, warm weather is beneficial to these sheep, to the extent that it reduces child mortality. Somehow I don't think that's the major message that people will take away from this story, though.

Just a quick reminder that the eras in the past 10,000 years that were warmer than today were called 'Optimums.' Because they were conducive to development and growth, being on the whole more benign environments.

Not saying that global warming is all good, or even net good. Just saying it isn't 100% bad news.
