The lawyer hired by the personal doctor for pop star Michael Jackson says that the doctor initially found Jackson in bed with his heart still beating, but that the 50-year old entertainer had stopped breathing.

Houston attorney Edward Chernoff told The Associated Press that Dr. Conrad Murray went into Jackson's bedroom and realized that the singer had stopped breathing. Chernoff says the doctor found Jackson still warm to the touch and with a faint pulse and immediately began performing CPR.

Chernoff says Murray suggested to Jackson's family that an autopsy be performed. He adds that the doctor did not prescribe or give Jackson the drugs Demerol or Oxycontin.

The lawyer claimed that any drugs Murray prescribed for Jackson were provided to address a specific complaint from the 50-year-old entertainer.
