If I told you a celebrity was going to launch an environmentally-friendly, organic beauty product that will make you look gorgeous and healthy, Lindsay Lohan is more than likely not the face you would picture. But as it turns out, the starlet [with the help of celebrity airbrush tanner Lorit Simon] has recently unveiled a new spray tanning mist called Sevin Nyne. The line, named after Lohan’s two lucky numbers [and possibly spelled the way she actually spells them], was once available only to Simon’s celebrity clients, is now being sold to the public exclusively at Sephora stores. And people seem to love it. The product currently has a 4.2 out of 5 rating on the Sephora website.
“I have tried every tanning product on the market and worked with the best tanners in the business,” Lohan said in a recent statement about her new line. “When Lorit and I met, we thought it would be great to bring a quality product at a reasonable price to the market so everyone could enjoy a spray tan.” And reasonable, it is. The 5oz spray [the first - and only - product from the line released so far] is priced at just $35, which may sound a bit much for a spray tanner at first, but might actually be worth it when given a second look. A quality, even, possibly orange spray tan in a salon will cost you at least $35, if not more, for a single spray. Lohan’s spray, on the other hand, is reusable and won’t cost you a trip to the salon every time you need a quick spritz. I’m not sure how many uses there are per can, but even if Lohan’s spray only lasted a paltry 5 uses, it would still be saving you a whopping $140 at the salon [and untold damage to your skin].
So how is this going to help me and the environment, you ask? For your benefit, the spray was infused with caramel, Goji berry extract and Chardonnay to help add antioxidant and moisturizing properties to the mix, and was never tested on animals. As for the environment, the spray is being packaged in an environmentally-friendly aerosol can [which apparently, exist] that‘s made completely of recycled aluminum. Also, the mixture inside the can doesn’t contain any CFCs, or Chloroflourocarbons; the main reason for ozone depletion in the stratosphere. The luxury tanning spray is also said to provide an even-looking, natural tan much more like what you would actually get from exposure to the sun, but without the risk of any damage to your skin. Lohan and Simon are very proud of this, and actually hope to encourage more people to stay out of the sun and “cherish their skin.” To prove their commitment, the pair is donating a portion of the proceeds to skin cancer awareness charities.
Maybe Miss Lohan isn’t so bad after all. She might not be the greatest role model, but you might want to follow in her footsteps at least this one time because it just might pay off.
