It's being reported by the Associated Press that a very strong anesthetic/sedative was found in Michael Jackson's residence not usually found in the general public's possession. The drug Diprivan, (propofol) is normally used to start or maintain anesthesia during particular surgical procedures, and Jackson's possession of it should raise eyebrows. Together with the other drugs he is alleged to have been using, Michael was straddling death's fence for a while.
Diprivan is a general anesthetic, (an-ess-THET-ik), used to produce loss of consciousness before surgery. It is also used in pregnancy labor, and delivery in smaller doses to relieve anxiety, and/or pain without the loss of consciousness. The drug is so powerful that there is a warning by the FDA stating, " Patients should be advised that performance of activities requiring mental alertness, such as operating a motor vehicle, or hazardous machinery or signing legal documents may be impaired for some time after general anesthesia or sedation." Emphasis added
If Michael Jackson was using any benzodiazepines like Valium, Xanax, and/or narcotic pain relievers such as Vicodin, Percocet, OxyContin, Demerol, and/or sedatives such as chloral hydrate, the risk for side effects is increased substantially when taken together with Diprivan. Allegations are that Michael was taking painkillers, anti-anxiety and sedative medications prior to his death. Jackson's former bodyguard, Matt Fiddes, is saying the King of Pop was out of control with his drug use.
In preparation for his comeback, the King of Pop is alleged to have asked a nurse for the drug Diprivan, but she refused citing the powerful drug's safety concerns. Looking at the FDA's literature on Diprivan, it appears the drug is rarely given to the gerneral public, and has warnings all over it. And of course, if Michael was injecting this medication on a daily basis, for whatever reason, it might call into question any legal documents he may have signed during those times. Matt Fiddes, former bodyguard to Michael, is saying he was injecting and taking pills to an extreme.
If in fact Michael Jackson was abusing this drug, he was indeed playing with his life, as so many other addicts in America do. The fact that it is a mega-star at the center of these allegations should demonstrate to everyone that addiction isn't just a problem with a certain segment of society, but an equal opportunity destroyer of all who would swallow that first pill, puff that first glass pipe, pour down that first drink, smoke that first joint laced with crack or heroin, inhale that first can, or inject that first dose. Granted, there are those rare individuals that do not drink to excess, or even smoke weed that doesn't cause problems, however, it is basically a crap shoot because you really don't know if one day you will become an addict with the use of any drug. Those using marijuana for medical reasons are not even a part of this discussion for obvious reasons.
