   Oscar Mayer is dead at age 95

Oscar Mayer, the man who owned the legendary hot dog and other meat products plant, has died.

Oscar Mayer was 95 and was the third owner of the company which eventually was sold and is a division of Kraft.

Oscar Mayer gave his bologna a first name. Oscar Mayer gave his bologna a last name.

The Oscar Mayer company was a marketing machine bringing a famous jingle that every child learns.

The Oscar Mayer Weinermobile is a traffic stopper and crowd gatherer wherever it appears - even when driving down the road.

Oscar Mayer and his brothers Gottfried and Max started selling sausages in the 1890s. Gottfried was the trained sausage maker and soon the brothers began selling from a horse-drawn wagon throughout Chicago.

In 1924, the Oscar Mayer brand was started on sliced bacon, for which the brothers earned a patent.

The Weinermobile was introduced in 1936.
