When it comes to being girly I sometimes have a hard time remembering that I'm a hippy deep down. It's so easy for me to wrap myself up in the current oxford trends and I start lusting after every pair I see. I'm a shoe addict, I admit it, but we all have something that we just can't give up, mine's shoes.

Usually I troll through the vintage shops on Haight, but I found the most stylish, sustainable shoe company recently while I was walking about Union St. I wandered into a shop called Wildlife Works. They specialize in products ranging from clothing for the whole family to accessories and home accents. What I spent my time ogling though was their collection of shoes by Terra Plana.

whenever I think eco-friendly shoes, I think ugly hemp sneakers, I don't immediately think stylish, comfortable, or sexy but these shoes defintely fit the bill. The Aquila is a strappy heel that practically begs hot date, and at $125 it isn't the worst price for a sustainable heel both in material and in fashion. Aquila is available in black, dark brown, and red.

If boots are more your thing, the Libra is your girl. She's sexy, smart, and fit. The shoe contains a latex rubber/rice husk combination sole to maximize on comfort. The main body of the boot is made from recycled plastic bottles with a leather toe detail. Great for all calf sizes with an adjustable elastic closure. available in black and dark grey for $225.

The leather that Terra Plana uses is all vegetable tanned leathers. The leather tanning process is insanely chemical intensive and very toxic for the people doing it. The vegetable alternative takes a little longer, but ultimately you get the same erffect without the polluting aftermath or health hazard side effects.

My favorite by far is the Patch. She's cute, perky, and quirky (like me). These are perfect for Sunday brunch with the girls. This style is made from recycled quilts from Pakistan and Bangladesh. The heel is a wearable 2.5" high, making these ideal for all-day wear. Each pair of the patch shoe is a unique for you piece. Available in multi color for $185.
