The Robert Mills House on Blanding Street will be the backdrop for the 14th annual South Carolina Oyster Festival on Sunday, November 15th. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Historic Columbia Foundation.

More than 5000 pounds of oysters will be available both steamed and fried. Many family friendly activities will also be available as well as inflatable amusement rides for a nominal fee. Live music, food(other than oysters), tours of the Foundation’s historic homes, and drinks will also be on the docket. Soft drinks, beer and a special wine pavilion will be available. Bring your own oyster shuckers and gloves or purchase them at the festival. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and strollers!

Music will be a large part of the festival with appearances by the Blue Dogs from Charleston who will be making their 3rd Oyster Festival appearance as well as the Woodwork Roadshow and Tom Hall and the Plowboys. The Blue Iguanas and Columbia’s own Danielle Howle are also on the program.

Free tours of the Robert Mills House will be available from 12-4 and $10 tickets for the festival are available at the Robert Mills House Museum Shop and at California Chicken Grill, Bawa Oyster Company and online at www.etix.com. Entry to the festival is at both ends of Blanding Street from Pickens or Henderson Street, one block from Taylor.
