Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler, upset that new coach Josh McDaniels entertained the idea of trading him, has now asked to be traded.
As a result, speculation about a potential destination for Cutler has been rampant. Just look at the headlines over on the Google news page:
Cerrato: Redskins Not Pursuing Cutler
Don’t Count on Texans Trading for Cutler
Bears better not blow this chance to get Cutler
Romo for Cutler? For Dallas Cowboys, not a chance
Dilfer says Cutler would not be big upgrade for Vikings
Would Jay Cutler even be a good fit for Lions?
Against that backdrop, you knew it was only a matter of time before someone suggested that gee, maybe the Eagles should trade Donovan McNabb for Cutler. And sure enough, Matt Mosley over at ESPN.com did just that, though with tongue firmly in cheek.
Daily News beat writer Les Bowen wrote in his blog that it wouldn’t be the best idea, and I tend to agree with him. If Cutler is going to be so thin-skinned that the mere suggestion of a trade throws him into a tizzy, how would he handle a town like Philadelphia? Not well, I’m guessing.
But I’m also guessing that fans’ opinions will be a wee bit divided on an issue such as this. Just a wee bit.
