In the wake of the news that HTC is bringing their Touch Pro2 smartphone to T-Mobile on August 12th, another HTC phone may be making its way to stores on October 11th if this rumor holds up.
The news coming out of Engadget is that a forum poster with senior status at xda-developer forums has posted what appears to be proof that HTC’s Hero is going to be heading to the United States on October 11th.
This rumor has gathered steam because the poster had apparently been claiming this to be truth since April without any evidence.
Until now.
A picture shows what appears to be release dates for a series of phones ranging from the BlackBerry Aeries to something called the Samsung Q to an LG phone called the LX610 or Lotus 2. Above these, at the very top, is the HTC Hero with the October 11th release date next to it.
Now the poster claims he works for a wireless development firm which could substantiate the rumor, however, the picture has little else to put this past anything but speculation.
If you haven’t heard of the Hero, you can find the specs here.
This could be a great addition for Sprint which currently is the third largest service provider and potentially might be sharing its flagship phone, the Palm Pre, with Verizon come January.
