Palm will definitely be building off of this success.

This is going to be music to the ears to both Palm and to Pre owners everywhere.

While most smartphone news as of late has been centered on Apple’s dominance in the market, June has proved fruitful for its competitor. And this meteoric rise will more than likely not be stopping anytime soon.

According to a report by Barron’s featuring analysis from Charter Equity Research, it has been predicted that Palm has sold 300,000 Pre’s in the month of June

This is certainly a staggering number considering how many phones are fresh on the market with several more being released over the next few months.

Palm and its CEO have been mum about their sales numbers but if these are anywhere near correct, the iPhone now has a very, very viable competitor. Obviously, those numbers can’t touch Apple’s sales, but it certainly is great news for a company that sold only 350,000 phones alone in the quarter prior to Pre’s launch.

This news should also pique a lot of developer and consumer interest because it’s hard to sell that many phones in such a competitive market if the product is bad or all hype. The Pre is definitely real and its popularity and sales should skyrocket even further once Palm gets the application debacle figured out.

Wait until Palm itself releases the true numbers until you pass judgment, but it’s hard to believe they will be anything but stellar.

So, save your applause for a few days but from the looks of things, Palm has found its place in the smartphone market.
