The Secret Life of the American Teenager is one of America's most popular shows. By revealing the life of an everyday teenager, the show has captured the hearts of millions and millions of viewers, and is now premiering their 2nd season tonight! One of the shows main stars, Francia Raisa, who stars as sultry and seductive Adrian, shares her tips, her past, and her future plans.

GC: What is a beauty tip that every girl should know?

FR: Highlighter on your eyes. If you’re just too lazy to put eyeshadow on, grab a little blush and put it on your eyes and that will bring a little more color to your eyes. Also, when you get those hairs on your eyebrows that’s not ready to be plucked yet and is just getting there, just put some highlighter on there and it will accent your eyes a little more.

GC: What is the best beauty advice you’ve ever received?

FR: The trick with the blush on the eyes-my sister told me that one. She told me if you’re too lazy to do it, or your not confident about putting eye shadow on properly.

Gabrielle: What is your daily beauty regimen?

Francia: Wash my face. I use Laura Mercier Foundation; it has more SPF in it and not a lot of color-I like to keep it more natural. I put on mascara, eyeliner, and lipgloss. I just make sure my skin is healthy.

GC: Is your beauty regimen any different when you’re filming?

FR: No, actually. Because I wear so much makeup on set, I wear about the same or if anything even nothing at all just because I don’t want all of that in my skin, and all of that clogging up, and everything. I try to keep as less makeup on as possible. That’s the reason why I wear Laura Mercier just because it’s so little.

GC: What are your favorite beauty products?

FR: I really like CoverGirl. They also have really good foundation. I love Covergirl’s mascara, and their concealer. And I also use Dior mascara, is also really good. Lip gloss from Lancome, I love the Juicy Tubes. I use “Daquiri most of the time because it’s more natural, it has a hint of pink to it, but it’s very natural.

GC: Your character on The Secret Life always has her makeup on and looks gorgeous. Do you like to wear makeup on a daily basis or do you prefer to go natural?

FR: I do the more natural route. Because my mother taught me that when your more natural, people can see your true beauty, and when you go to an event or let’s say prom, that’s when you make yourself up, and you can show them what you can really look like when you get yourself done up and it’s a surprise. So people go “WOW, you look amazing!”, and it surprises people and they want to see more of you, and that’s how guys want to see more of you and see you dress up more like that. Because if you do too much makeup everyday, when you do dress up, it’s not so much of a surprise anymore. So I go more of the natural route, and so when I have a special occasion I get to glam up get compliments. Because every girl likes to get complimented.

GC: Do you have any similarities with your character Adrian?

FR: Yes, a lot. Just from when I was back in school, just wanting attention, and needing to feel loved and like that. That I can relate to, and I think that’s why I can connect with her a little more. I was getting to that point with boys that I was just like “yeah, let’s just have sex”. Fortunately, I saw the movie “Thirteen”, and I was like “Nevermind, I don’t want to have sex”. I can relate to her with that, and then just wanting attention from guys and wanting love and flirting. Flirting I can really relate to because I have a problem with that. And just being a little but different at times, it’s fun to be bad.

GC: Did you always want to get into acting?

FR: Yes! Ever since I was little and saw my first soap opera, a Spanish soap opera, I wanted to get into it. Then when I was in high school I got more motivation because I would say “hey I want to be an actress”, and people would be like “yeah ok, like that’s really going to happen”, and I was like “Hey! Yes it is! And now I’m really gonna do it, because you said I wouldn’t.”

GC: If you weren’t acting, what would you want to be doing?

FR: One of the main reasons I got into acting was not only to prove a point, but another reason is because I wanna have a voice to young girls, I want to be a role model to them. I want them to be inspired by my movies. When I was younger, say 15 or 16, I was lost, and I was doing a lot of dumb stuff. If I wasn’t an actress I would probably be a child psychologist.

GC: Do you ever have days where you wake up and just don’t feel beautiful? If so, what do you do to make yourself feel better?

FR: YEAH. Honestly, the days that happens is around my PMS time, so I just workout. That makes me feel better because it makes me feel like I’ve done something for myself to make myself look good in some way. And I look for a lot of compliments; I’m not going to lie. But, working out is my main thing, knowing that I’ve accomplished something and have done something productive with my day.

GC: How do you stay in shape?

FR: I dance as well. I’m a dancer, so that’s pretty much what I do to stay in shape. I have a gym membership but I’m not very good about going. I’ve gone about a handful of times and I’ve had a membership for 6 months. I think it’s important to find an activity that you like. Whether its soccer, dancing, or softball, anything. An afterschool activity, aerobics, or pilates; just something you look forward to doing. Because if it’s something that your dreading then there’s no way your going to keep up with it.

GC: Who has been your favorite person to work with?

FR: I love working with everyone. I can’t really say specifically because everyone’s different. But on the show, I really enjoy working with Darren and with Megan, those two. But in general I really enjoyed working with Matt Lanter (90210), we just had a lot of fun filming.

GC: Who would you like to work with in the future?

FR: Oh my god, I would pee my pants if I got to work with Angelina Jolie.

GC: What’s your favorite song right now?

FR: I am obsessed with this song “Bust It Baby” by Plies. I’m obsessed.

GC: What’s you favorite song to dance to?

FR: *laughs*“Too much booty in the pants”

GC: Quirky thing about you?

FR: I have a little bit of OCD about things. Like when I dance, I have to have a specific person on my right side, and I cannot dance if they are on my left side. Or when I go out to eat, I have to sit on a certain part of the booth or just I can’t sit still. Another thing is I used to play the accordion.

GC: What are some of your hobbies when you’re not working or dancing?

FR: Honestly, my favorite thing to do when I’m not doing that is either write, which I’m just getting back into. Or just sit at home, eat some pizza or some hot wings, and watch Grey’s Anatomy.
I like to write non-fictional stories. I just like to make up stories in my head lately. I used to not write it down, I haven’t written since high school actually, and then I went back and said “this is pretty good”. Poems, and I’m trying to head into writing a song or a screenplay. Or sometimes I just start writing about my life and then it turns into this whole dramatic story that I just start making.

I also like to sing. More so in Spanish rather than English, and I’m looking to drop something soon, so fans keep an eye out for that! I have so many ideas for songs right now, most about love, and boys of course, that break your heart.

As far as beauty, like I said, stay natural, and make people want to see you more when you surprise them when you start glamming up. Also, that’s what makes guys want to see you more, for you ladies. Don’t be afraid to be yourself, because you look the way you look and you can’t change it. God blessed you with your looks, and your parents gave you those genes of your looks. Just love yourself and appreciate it. And as far as anything else like weight or anything, just love who you are. Don’t try and change it, just love it and bring out confidence. Actually, the biggest beauty tip I can give to readers is confidence, because guys read it, and guys can see that. They can see when its fake and guys can read when it’s real. When a person just has so much confidence and that’s what makes them fall in love with you.

Many thanks to Francia for speaking with me! You can catch the season premier of The Secret Life tonight on ABC Family. Francia promises that it’s going to be a juicy season, with plenty of Adrian!
