We all know the fashion blog-o-sphere has exploded in the past year. With bloggers hailing from all over the world, style has evolved into a realm that has become a lot more accessible to the public world.
I got to catch up with Taghrid Chaaban, a 21-year-old LA fashion blogger, originally from Tripoli, Lebanon, that’s found her niche on her one-year-old blog, http://taghrid.cc/. She’ll be letting you guys in on her own personal style icons, great LA vintage shopping, and her opinion on Ed Hardy, which I fervently agree with. Citing Sonia Rykiel, Chanel, Marc Jacobs, and Giuseppe Zanotti as her favorite designers, Taghrid obviously knows her stuff and has a passion for fashion that doesn’t look like it will fade any time soon.
Q: What are your top four favorite "hidden gems"/boutiques that haven't been overexposed to the public in LA?
We have some amazing vintage stores and flea markets. My favorite one is a small boutique on Alvarado and Sunset called Leap Frog. I have been going there almost every weekend for about 3 months, and every time I end up spending way more than I budgeted. They have a great little collection of dresses and accessories, and it is all so organized. I also really love the Santa Monica Aaardvarks and Burbank's American Way. When I feel like buying new stuff, I hit up Topanga Mall.
Q: List three of your favorite items in your closet right now and why?
American Apparel's new disco shorts, a Brigid Catiis vintage, and this really obnoxious peach colored sequined blazer. The AA shorts have a 70’s feel and are made of magical material that just sucks up all the imperfections and makes you look super sexy. I've seen a bunch of girls try on the same shorts in different sizes, and they always look so hot - it's magic! Brigid Catiis makes the best remakes that are always different and the fabric is always the cutest. And I'm just in love with my tacky peach blazer, words cannot describe the feelings!
Q: In your opinion, what is essential in an absolutely fabulous heel (other than comfort)?
Height is really a big factor for me, because I'm vertically challenged.
Q: Who do you admire most for their personal style (it could be anyone), and why?
I have always admired Jane Birkin’s style, because it’s classic yet with a little twist. But I also think Mary Kate Olsen has an amazing way with clothing and accessories.
Q: What overplayed, pointless trend do you see over and over in LA?
Ed Hardy and Uggs seem like two ugly trends that are never going to disappear. So sad.
Q: How often should a lady clean out her closet/reinvent her wardrobe?
I don't believe in throwing away clothing simply because everything always comes back. I do think, though, it's good to get rid of the things that don't fit anymore.
Q: What's one piece of clothing you won't leave the house without this summer?
American Apparel's sheer jersey circle scarves, they are so soft and light. It's the perfect thing to keep me covered from the harsh sun.

So take a cue from Taghrid, ladies! From low to high end style, the girl knows how to mix and match to make any outfit look effortlessly chic.
