Today's producer letter by Bruce Ferguson confirms some upcoming changes for EverQuest II and its players.

The main change Ferguson confirms is that the way item procs work are going to be changed, to bring procs to a "reasonable standard." According to the letter, players will see the following changes:

  • Critical damage is being removed from the item's base proc.
  • Proc values can no longer be modified (except through item set enhancements or achievements.)
  • Toxic Expertise will now improve the base damage of poisons.
  • Death Mark and Inspired Daring spell lines will trigger melee attacks instead of spell based attacks.

In addition, Ferguson mentions there will be a new x2 raid, two single group instances, new overland solo content, player created books, a new and more efficient shadow system, and research assistants to help you study up for your next spell upgrade. Changes are expected to go live in June.

This is Bruce Ferguson's end as Producer of EverQuest II, as he goes on to another position with Sony Online Entertainment.
