SEPTA has announced that it will offer extra late-night Regional Rail trains to accommodate fans attending Game 5 of the National League Championship Series at Citizens Bank Park.
The Phillies currently lead the Los Angeles Dodgers by three games to one in the series, and a win tonight at the Bank will send the Fightin's to the World Series for the second straight year. Ace lefthander Cole Hamels is scheduled to start for the Phils in tonight's potentially climactic game, with the first pitch at 8:07 p.m.
Extra Regional Rail trains will begin running 90 minutes after the last out on all Regional Rail routes except the R6 Cynwyd and R1 Airport, which will run on their normal schedules. The special rains will make all regular stops on all routes except the R2 Wilmington/Newark, which will terminate in Marcus Hook.
To the game, SEPTA will run its usual Sports Express trains on the Broad Street Line from Fern Rock to Pattison, with intermediate stops at Olney, Erie, Girard, Spring Garden, Race-Vine, City Hall, and Walnut-Locust, starting at 6:18 p.m. Look for the blue marker lights on the front of the trains and the "SPECIAL" indicators on the sides. Four extra early evening trains on the Market-Frankford Line will boost service for fans from Northeast Philadelphia, West Philadelphia and western suburbs. After the game, express and local Broad Street trains will be at the ready at Pattison to whisk fans to their ultimate destinations.
