Hawaii downs Washington State in workmanlike fashion 24-10

The 2008 football season for Washington State ended about 3,000 miles away from home. Instead of enjoying visit to Honolulu, Coach Paul Wulff and the Cougs lost to the host Warriors of Hawaii, 24-10.
This game followed the storyline of the entire season for WSU.
Coach Wulff and the players practiced well. They were enthusiastic about the possibility of ending the season on a high note with a two-game winning streak.
For the eleventh time this season, Washingotn State lost a football game.
Late in the first half, Kevin Lopina went down with an knee injury. Lopina was the starter at quarterback. His injury removed any doubt that the most dangerous job in America is playing quarterback for the 2008 Cougs.
Many folks were hoping to see more playing time for JT Levenseller under center this week, but that's not the manner dreamed of.
All was not gloom and doom surrounding this team that set records which may very well stand the test of time.
Defensively, the Cougs gave the Warriors all they could handle.
For the first time this season, WSU shut down their opponents running game. That's worthy of mention because the defensive line was very thin this year.
The Cougs did give up over 300 yards of passing, but it was another game where the "D" bent but didn't break. If the defense can hold an opponent to 24 points at this level, you should win more games than you lose.
Levenseller didn't set the world on fire with his play, but he looked much more competent. His scrambling and strong arm did make some nice plays over the course of the second half.
When Levenseller led the offense to a touchdown in the third quarter, he had the team back in the game 17-10. OK, by leading the way it must be pointed out that the Cougs ran the ball on every play. Given the number of touchdowns WSU scored this season, any quarterback involved with one should get some credit.
Time to move forward.
For Coach Wulff, the honeymoon is over.
Seriously.
