Obama is nominating federal appeals court judge Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court.  Sotomayor appears to be more liberal than the liberal justice she is replacing, David Souter, especially on economic issues.   Her approach to property rights issues (like the Kelo decision) and lawsuits is discussed today by constitutional law professor Ilya Somin, business expert Michael Greve, leading law professor Richard Epstein, and Iain Murray.  Stuart Taylor discusses her approach to racial and civil rights issues.  Appellate lawyer Howard Bashman gathers coverage of the nomination here.  The Democrats have a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate, so confirmation is expected.
