Texans - Bills game notes: fourth quarter, Daniels lost for season
Game notes from the fourth quarter of the Texans - Bills:
- Great way to start the 4th with a nice slant from Schaub to Walter followed up by a refreshing 11 yard TD run by Ryan Moats. The OL did a great job blocking on the TD.
- The Texans go for 2 and convert on a nice toss from Schaub to Andre Johnson.
- Great job defense on the 3rd consecutive 3-and-out. What about Buffalo 7 points down in the 4th running three straight running plays - then gambling with a gadget play (fake punt/run). James Casey came in and made a good play on the fake, making the tackle.
- Ryan Moats is shot out of a cannon on a 17 yard run to the Bills 1 yard line. Great blocking again by the Texans O-line. Moats scores on a 1 yard run to make it 23-10 Texans.
- Moats has 16 carries 95 yards and 2 TDs at 9:53 of the 4th quarter. Will Steve Slaton respond next week? Will he get the chance? Should he get the chance?
- Bills fans booing the play calling. Down by 14 and running the ball. Give them what they want and guess what? Fitzpatrick and T.O. miscommunicate badly on a double move (at least Fitz thought it was a double move) and Jacques Reeves gets the easiest interception he will ever get.
- Texans are trying to play a little defense with their running game at 8:59 of the 4th. A 3rd and 5 is converted on a nice 27 yard hookup from Schaub to David Anderson.
- Moats still running tough up the middle - 107 yards now on 20 carries.
- 13 yard end around to Walter keeping the Bills from over-pursuing. Moats for 8 more. The Texans are gouging the Bills on the ground. Did I just say 'the Texans are gouging someone on the ground?'
- Moats drives in for his 3rd TD of the day at 3:34 of the fourth quarter. MVP of the day. I wonder how Slaton feels? The offensive line has been tremendous today - along with the defense.
- Great job by the Jersey Meathead picking off Fitzpatrick to seal the deal. He had a lot of family at the game today and I'm sure they were thrilled.
- This has to go down as one of the most dominating Texans road wins in their history. It took them long enough to get going today but they finished strong when it counted.
- When Kubiak came out of the locker room at halftime, he said the team played as bad as they can play. He also said 'we'll see what we're made of' in the second half. I think they met Kubiak's challenge and a 5-3 record at the halfway point means they are a playoff contender - let's just hope Owen's knee isn't a season ender. UPDATE 4:10 pm CST: Adam Schefter just tweeted this bad news: "@ Filed to ESPN: Texans TE Owen Daniels has been lost for the season with a knee injury." Are you ready James Casey and Joel Dreessen?
- Speaking of tweets, and since I'm on here updating, here's a fun one from Brian Cushing - still riding high from the game: @BrianCushing56 Going back to TEXAS 5 & 3! This team has great defensive chemistry NOW! I was told I had 10 tackles,1 sack,& 1int YEAH! BRING ON THE COLTS!!!"
- Howie win, Calliendo lose.
More game reaction Monday night. Good job Texans. p.s., game ball to the defense too.
