As exciting as I thought this game would be, I found myself drinking coffee at four o’clock in the afternoon just to keep awake. Three red zone turnovers, penalties and the limited play of Chris Johnson in the second half led the fourth and final loss for the Titans this season.

For what seemed like forever (three quarters), the score was tied 7-7 as it looked like the game would be decided by the punters.
The Titans’ Johnson scored first on an 8-yard run set up by a 20-yard pass from Kerry Collins to Justin Gage who again conveniently showed up to play. Mere seconds later, former Titans receiver and current Ravens veteran Derrick Mason scored on a whopper of a throw from Joe Flacco – 48 yards.
From there on hit fast forward because this portion of the game was booooorrring. Nothing happened for 30 minutes of game time which is plenty of time to go to Starbucks, wait in line, spill your coffee, get another one, sit in traffic, run out of gas, call AAA, and get home.
Oh but during those 30 minutes the Titans managed to turn the ball over twice. Kerry Collins’ only interception (in the red zone) and a fumble by LenDale White (in the red zone) were pretty interesting, I guess.
Then there were the penalties. 12 for 89 yards. That’s pretty much all I’m going to say about this.
Oh and one more turnover in the red zone, this one courtesy of Alge Crumpler, who should know better.
A field goal for each team early in the fourth tied the score up at 10 and then some more penalties and punts and a final field goal from Matt Stover sealed Baltimore’s win sending them to the AFC Championship game next weekend.
Oh, and then there’s the injury to Chris Johnson. “It’s an ankle.” I’m guessing that the Titans kept him out in an effort to preserve him for next week in the event they won. But as a result the Titans forfeited their major offensive power.
And that really gets stuck in my craw. Get it?
