Traveling without Fido and need your doggie fix? The Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch in Avon, Colorado, has just what the doctor ordered. Bachelor is the third resident yellow Labrador retriever mascot of the resort’s signature Loan-a-Lab hiking program.

Rescued in October 2008 by the Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor is available for guests to take on hikes or walks in the area. There is no fee for Bachelor’s companionship, however, many guests may make voluntary donations at the concierge desk to benefit the Eagle Valley Humane Society.
He is booked months in advance during the peak seasons,” said John Garth, general manager of the resort. “Parents and children are always asking to meet Bachelor as soon as they arrive and their interaction with him throughout their stay is so endearing. He truly makes our guests feel like they are at home” he added.
To celebrate Bachelor’s first summer at the resort, The Ritz-Carlton is waiving its usual $125 per dog-stay-fee from Memorial Day through Labor Day weekend.
The Loan-a-Lab hiking program is available by reservation through the resort’s Concierge with times available on Monday through Friday at 9:30 a.m. and on select weekends. Guests may take Bachelor for a 30-minute or one hour hike or snow shoe out the backdoors of The Ritz-Carlton on two designated trails. Children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. You may also meet Bachelor in the lobby daily between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
And if your very own Fido happens to be along for the ride, be sure to stop by the Bachelor pad for a meet and greet before exploring the grrreat outdoors.
