Decades after her death, Marilyn Monroe continues to draw attention. Photo: marilynmonroe.com

Not surprisingly, many of yesteryear's favorite celebrities are still causing some commotion. In what way? Well, according to its annual report at Forbes.com, Elvis Presley is the highest paid dead celebrity for the second year in a row.

Presley, who we all know is the former King of Rock 'n Roll, is just as big of an icon now as he was when he was alive. His earnings from October 2007 to 2008, beat out Peanuts animator Charles Schulz who pulled in $33 million, and Oscar nominated actor Heath Ledger who brought in $20 million from “The Dark Knight.”

And not to be outdone, one of my personal favorites, Marilyn Monroe, brought in $6.5 million, while rebel James Dean brought in $5 million, as did the late, great Paul Newman, who Forbes estimated earned about $5 million this year.

It just goes to show, that yesterday's celebrities continue to shine even after their unfortunate passing.
