Toby Maguire for healthy, veggie option school lunches

It's National Healthy School Lunch Week.

Have you seen the school menu lately?  Though some school districts, most noteably some  in Berkeley, CA, have progressed to alternative choices to the standard high fat, high meat American diet, there are many districts that are way behind the times and doing our children - and the environment - no healthy favors.

Actor Tobey Maquire has joined the revolution for healthy school lunches.  Recently, this father of two young children sent letters to congressional leaders asking that the Child Nutrition Act provide more healthy vegetarian options in school lunches.  The recent birth of Maguire's second child has brought the issue close to home.

Specifically,  Maguire, star of Spider-Man, The Ice Storm, and The Cider House Rules, is asking that the upcoming reauthorization of the Child Nutrition Act (CNA), which regulates the National School Lunch Program, assist schools in serving more low-fat vegetarian meals.
