Exhibit Darfur is on display at the Art for Darfur Event tonight at SMU Meadows School of the Arts from 7:00 p.m.-- 9:30 p.m.
Exhibit Darfur is an international traveling photography show featuring the work of Mia Farrow, Aaron Cohen, Brian Steidle, Izabela Lundberg, Heidi McGiness and Carol Rinehart. The exhibit began in Denver, CO and is currently traveling throughout America to raise awareness of the Save Darfur message. 100% of the proceeds will go to the artists selected charities.
The photographs are a reminder that Darfur is still in turmoil. In March 2009, tens of thousands of displaced Sudanese arrived at overcrowded refugee camps. The Sudanese government ordered the expulsion of 13 international aid organizations after the international Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for President Omar al-Bashir.
The Art for Darfur event at Southern Methodist University will host the photography show and hold a charity auction of beautiful affordable art Saturday, April 18, 2009. There will be live music, guest speakers along with arts and crafts for children. Art for Darfur is community effort that began at SMU founded by Tiana Lightfoot in 2007. It’s grown to include Dallas students, faith communities and those who want to help the crisis in Sudan. All are welcome and encouraged to make a difference.
Art for Darfur will be held tonight at SMU in the Meadows School of the Arts building in the Bob Hope Lobby from 7:00 p.m. through 9:30 p.m. $10 for adults, $5 for students with ID and children under 12 are free.
