Almost everyone knows that Michael Jackson passed on yesterday, and most people have a judgment of him. My view is based on his song "Man In The Mirror," which I believe reflects his inner conflict.
Jackson really wanted to make changes as well as to stand up to make a difference in the world. He changed the world more than most people and mostly for the better. He pointed to the shadows in himself, and he was a mirror for many people's shadows.
I don't envy the life he led. It must have been very confusing being a child celebrity, having a father who regularly beat him, wanting to make a difference on this planet and being constantly hounded by an entourage that always wanted something from him
Now, he has made what many people consider the ultimate change. He is no longer occupying the physical body that so many came to either adore or criticize. He is no longer in the spotlight of human celebrity. He is no longer being judged by a loving or hateful public. He is free, and he is home.
Thank you Michael Jackson for being a mirror to so many and bringing songs of light to the dark corners of humankind. You will also find a profound comment below from Chuck Haifley
the producer of the Man in the Mirror video. It was posted after this article was published, and it moved me profoundly.
May Michael Jackson and all people enjoy the freedom and liberation of a graceful transition into the next evolution, and may we all forgive and recognize that we are each simple humans here to learn lessons, teach others and make that change.
"Man In The Mirror"
I'm Gonna Make A Change,
For Once In My Life
It's Gonna Feel Real Good,
Gonna Make A Difference
Gonna Make It Right . . .
As I, Turn Up The Collar On My
Favorite Winter Coat
This Wind Is Blowin' My Mind
I See The Kids In The Street,
With Not Enough To Eat
Who Am I, To Be Blind?
Pretending Not To See
Their Needs
A Summer's Disregard,
A Broken Bottle Top
And A One Man's Soul
They Follow Each Other On
The Wind Ya' Know
'Cause They Got Nowhere
To Go
That's Why I Want You To
Know
I'm Starting With The Man In
The Mirror
I'm Asking Him To Change
His Ways
And No Message Could Have
Been Any Clearer
If You Wanna Make The World
A Better Place
(If You Wanna Make The
World A Better Place)
Take A Look At Yourself, And
Then Make A Change

Then Make A Change)
