How important is a good night’s sleep? The experts say it is vitally important for health. With people are worried about their jobs, it is vital to stay sharp and on task during working hours. Having a good night sleep promotes learning in children and adults alike. Good sleep is an important key to strengthening the immune system, and the metabolism working at top shape. According to the experts there are a few key things to do every night to prepare for a good night’s sleep.

Make a nightly routine: Make a routine to follow every night. Try to go to bed and rise at the same time every morning and night. Even on weekends and holidays.

Take notice of the bedroom and its surroundings: Is the bedroom a relaxing environment to sleep in? Would having a decorator come in to give the bedroom a feng shui help? Is the room too bright for sleeping?

• Use the bed for sleeping and having sex only:
Keep the bed a sacred place for sex and sleeping. Stop watching TV, eating meals, or talking on the phone with family and friends while in bed. Make it less tempting, by removing the TV from the bedroom.

• Make a sleep journal: Write down all problems, worries, and concerns before turning out the light, knowing full well they will be waiting in the morning should the need arise to pick them up again. This is also a way to journal how well the night went. When awoken, write down where did the mind travel to, and what time did this happen? This way if there is a need to see a Doctor for a sleeping problem, this information will be helpful.

• No napping during the day: Don’t nap even though it would feel so good. Studies show that a person who naps during the day will have insomnia more often at night.

• Healthy diet and exercise daily: Studies show that a well balanced diet and an exercise routine could help individuals sleep more peacefully. It is worth a try for a good night sleep.
Doing even just a couple of these could make a difference in getting better sleep, and rest. Why not try them.
