Tea Party Express protesters: They're white, they're right, and they're nutjobs gone wild

Opinion: After attending a Tea Party Express "tax" protest in New Lenox, Illinois (a town just outside of Chicago), it’s become more clear than ever that these protests – ostensibly of “big government” or “government spending” – is about race, a changing (i.e., diminished white power) world, and bringing down President Obama.

I’m not sure how many people attended – I heard 5,000, I heard 10,000 (although I’d wager 10,000 is something of an exaggeration). What's not an exaggeration is that I did not see one single face (with the exception, as I previously posted, of Tea Party Express Lloyd Marcus) that was not white.  These white people cornered the market on hatred.  And despite the attempts to make it appear that this is a “grassroots” movement – well, they announced attendees from Memphis, Reno, and Sacramento, to name a few, with nothing better to do, I guess, than follow the herd from city to city. The funniest t-shirt I saw was “Sheep no more,” or something to that effect. It was truly a LOL moment.

But let’s talk about this thing, how the Tea Party Express is all about big government or government spending or bankrupting our kids’ futures or some number with lots of zeros. If that’s the case, where were these people when President Bush spent trillions of dollars for a war? Where were they when he was funding the Medicare prescription program?

Nope, nothing to do with government spending -- everything to do with President Obama, personally.

They can protest all they want that they're not nutjobs gone wild, but if so, why did I see these signs?

Oh, I get it . . . wait, what?

Nice little hammer and sickle from the USSR . . . surely it's just coincidence, eh?

Hmmm . . . pro-life signs.  How very right.

And these are the people worried about indoctrination . . . ?

Gloom . . . .

. . . Or doom.

Too crazy for comment.

Okay, right-wingers, ball's in your court:  Tell me what this all has to do with government spending?

Or maybe it's just about pastry.
