With July being Rum Month here on Examiner.com, a lot of Examiners have been posting their favorite rum drink recipes for readers to make at home. It’s fun to make drinks at home, but it’s even more fun to go out to a bar or restaurant and have a professional bartender make one for you. Sometimes it’s nice to leave the hard work of cocktail making to the professionals. Being a working bartender myself, I not only enjoy making cocktails, but I also enjoy watching someone else create and make my cocktail right in front of me on my days/nights off.

Rum cocktails and pirates at R Bar
LA Bartender Examiner, Kristine Bottone
“When people speak of rum their mind usually wanders towards the imagery of pirates; snaggle tooth bearing, eye patch wearing, sword wielding pirates. Or the more romanticized accounts, if you will, of Errol Flynn riding his way down a sail on a dagger in The Black Pirate or Johnny Depp’s drunken portrayal of Jack Sparrow in The Pirates of the Caribbean. Well, those images could be what the people at Examiner.com thought of when they declared July rum month. If you suddenly have the chorus of Fifteen Men on a Dead Man’s Chest coursing through your head then I have the perfect place for you to get your pirate on- it even has a password to get in.” Read More…
