Should Obama's student address be cancelled

President Obama is planning to address America's school children Next Tuesday (Sept 8, 2009) during school hours. Schools are asked to view the address on classroom televisions at 12:00 noon.
How cool is that? Can you remember the last time a president has addressed the nations school children? Probably never right? Are you excited? No... Oh, socialism huh? You think he's trying to brainwash our children? Hmm.
(Correction: Bush 1, Bush 2 and Reagan also addressed students... so why the double standard?)
What was being billed as a speech emphasizing the importance of schools from the President of the United States has become a threat to many. Florida GOP Chairman Jim Greer insists that by allowing this address, "taxpayer dollars are being used to spread President Obama’s socialist ideology" and spread "liberal propaganda". While an outline of the speech has been released, the GOP leader "doesn’t trust Obama to stick to those points and said the president should not address children unless parents can review the speech ahead of time".
Is anyone else dumbfounded?
