Michigan Siamese Rescue is located in Pinckney. Here is their story:

From an organizational standpoint, we are a corporation, with our own Board, policies, and procedures, modeled on the outstanding work that has already been done by Siamese Rescue in Virginia, Texas, and Kansas (SiameseRescue.org). [ http://www.siameserescue.org/ ] We are a group of volunteers that are dedicated to helping as many Siamese, Snowshoe Siamese, and Siamese mixed cats as possible. Although we give precedence to cats that are located within Michigan, as space allows we will accept cats from surrounding and nearby states. Similarly, although our main objective is to focus on the Siamese, at times you may spot an occasional "impostor" on our website such as Birmans, Himalayans, Ragdolls, Balinese, or other pointed cats.

There is a monetary cost to adopting one of these cats. After paying the $10 application fee, there is also an adoption donation ranging from $50 for an older non-purebred to $150 for a younger purebred. You must also pay a refundable deposit and then have your new cat neutered or spayed. Here are more of their adoption policies:

  • Please Note: MISR does not adopt cats to any applicant under 25 yrs
  • Michigan Siamese Rescue reserves the right to deny any application, for any reason, without disclosure.
  • Adoptive homes must keep all cats indoors.
  • Existing cats within the home must be tested negative for both Feline Leukemia and FIV.
  • Existing animals must be up to date on vaccines.
  • Existing cats in the home must be spayed or neutered.
  • No cats or kittens can be given as gifts, the written consent of any future owner is needed for any adoption. Gift certificates toward an adoption are available.
  • Applications are good for six months from date of approval, after that time a new interview and vet reference check will be required.
  • We discourage placement to households with five or more animals.

As of this writing, there were 14 cats available for adoption.

Siamese cats are a popular breed. Here is some information from Cat Fanciers' Association:

  • They were exported from Thailand (Siam) in the late 1800s.
  • Seal points have seal brown extremities and pale fawn bodies.
  • Chocolate points have milk chocolate legs, tail, mask and ears and creamy white bodies.
  • Blue points have slate blue points and a bluish-white body.
  • Lilac points have pinkish gray points and a white body.

Rescued cats come from different backgrounds, some of them troubling. It takes a special person who has lots of patience and love to give to successfully adopt a found stray. If you might be interested in adopting one of these beautiful cats, call for more information at 866-Meezers (866-633-9377), or email them at siameserescue@gmail.com .
