Swine flu vaccine safety: German politicians get safer swine flu vaccine?
Is the swine flu vaccine safe?
An article in this week's
Time magazine reports that German politicians are being given a swine flu vaccine that is more safe than that provided for the general population.
The German public is understandably upset and demanding to know why they are being given vaccines with added "adjuvants" of which the safety is less certain. The swine flu vaccine being given to many Americans also includes untested adjuvants.
The Time article states that there have been a total of three deaths in Germany due to the swine flu. Yet like most media reports, the article then attempts to instill fear in readers, telling them not pay attention to these very small numbers. There is clearly a big push for this vaccine of questionable safety.
The fear mongering now is very much like that of the 1976 swine flu scare, in which over 40 million Americans received the swine flu vaccine. The vaccine that year was also claimed to be safe as a major
media campaign spread fear of the dreaded swine flu around the nation.
Yet according to a CBS
60 Minutes report, only one person was eventually confirmed to have died from the swine flu itself in 1976, while the vaccine led to the death of hundreds and paralysis of thousands more. The government and media fear campaign filled the pockets of the drug companies which produced the vaccine with many millions of dollars, while the vaccine did much more harm than good to public health.
Don't miss the highly revealing 60 Minutes video clip available here.
As Germany launched its mass-vaccination program against the H1N1 flu virus on Monday, the government found itself fending off accusations of favoritism because it was offering one vaccine believed to have fewer side effects to civil servants, politicians and soldiers, and another, potentially riskier vaccine to everyone else. The German government prepared for its mass-vaccination campaign earlier this year by ordering 50 million doses of the Pandemrix vaccine.
The vaccine, manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline, contains an immunity-enhancing chemical compound, known as an adjuvant, whose side effects are not yet entirely known. The Interior Ministry confirmed that it had ordered a different vaccine, Celvapan, for government officials and the military. Celvapan, which is made by U.S. pharmaceutical giant Baxter, does not contain an adjuvant and is believed to have fewer side effects.
So one version of the swine flu vaccine has side effects which "are not yet entirely known." Yet all swine vaccines are claimed to be safe to people around the world. What's going on here? Are we being deceived? How strange that the vaccine with far fewer side effects is reserved for a small percentage of the population with the right connections in Germany. Obviously government officials want to be safe, yet they seem not to be so concerned with safety of the general populace.
This is only the tip of the iceberg of strange, yet little-known facts about the swine flu vaccine. Did you know, for instance, that earlier this year drug companies were given immunity from any potential lawsuits that might arise from people killed or injured by the vaccines? For more on this,

Did you know that CBS News has reported that the number of swine flu cases has been greatly exaggerated, and the government blocked reporters in their investigation of this? Some states reported that only 1 - 2% of cases claimed to be swine flu in fact tested positive. For more on this
