Let’s call tomorrow a late Christmas present of sorts, as we get a full EPL matchday on a Friday. A few clashes that will draw some interest….
7:45 a.m. ET, Man United at Stoke City: The Reds, fresh off of their Club World Cup triumph in Japan, get set to continue their EPL campaign. The question is, will the international triumph bring the defending champions fatigue or an extra burst of energy as they try to claim the full points and keep gaining on the EPL leaders with a couple games in hand. If there was a moment for a letdown, this is probably it.
10 a.m. ET, Bolton at Liverpool: It’s been two draws in a row now for Liverpool (although a point at the Emirates isn’t a bad thing), and the leaders really need a quality performance to get the confidence back and flowing.
12:15 ET, Arsenal at Aston Villa: And we come to the game of the day, as Arsenal heads into Villa trailing the third-place holders by three points in the table. And really, who knows what Gunners squad will show up for this one. Fabregas’ injury is obviously a huge blow, but this team has shown itself able to win those games where people count them out. At the same time, this could be a big statement game for Aston Villa as they look to cement themselves in the Top 4.
