Things we learned today…..

1) You can pretty much write off Arsenal’s title chances after today’s three-nil loss away to Manchester City. The Gunners are officially a train wreck that is beginning to turn into a soap opera thanks to the William Gallas issues that recently surfaced. It’s too bad that a team with such talent isn’t consistent enough to make a real run for the top spot.

2) Chelsea and Liverpool aren’t perfect. Both sides have had a couple of these abnormal nil-nil draws this year, and this week saw both fall victim to scoreless affairs against Newcastle and Fulham respectively (and by the way, Fulham is quietly putting together some nice results and sits in ninth at 18 points with a game in hand).

3) Manchester United continues to struggle a bit in the big games.

What a wonderful opportunity this could have been for the Reds to pick up three points away and gain some ground on the leaders, but they again had to settle with a draw. This is becoming a strange team to figure out. Ronaldo is certainly back in form, although his demeanor on the field (and playing defense) leaves a bit to be desired. What United could really use is a midfielder to complement No. 7 that can find the back of the net. Anderson, Ji-Sung Park and Nani have nice moments on the ball, but none of them have shown a golden touch around the net so far. Park in particular will rue his decision to not one-time a delicious through-ball in the first half, and he was inches away from nudging in a cross only minutes later.

Additionally, Carlos Tevez seems to be pressing in his efforts to get more regular playing time. This currently has manifested itself in a tendency to dribble a bit more than normal in the midfield.

A point away to a strong Villa team is certainly not a failure for Sir Alex Ferguson’s side, but this United team doesn’t have a defining result yet this season.
