For the last few days, people have been voting on this website's straw poll to ask Google to use a special logo.  The logo was designed to help people understand the struggle that Iranians are going through.  The designer of this logo, who did not use his real name,  has left comments on one of my articles to help explain his reason for the logo.

At this writing, there have been about 1,145,000 voters and 94% of the voters say YES to ask Google to display this logo for a day.  Only 6% of the votes say NO.

Logo is not Google's design or idea

This logo is not from Google.  The designer is asking Google to use the logo for a day to help spread the word about the peoples' desire for freedom and free elections.  Here is the designer's comments about the logo.

LOGO DESIGNER - THIS IS NOT DESIGNED BY GOOGLE, the idea and design is mine, I have lots of bandwidth problem, IF YOU CAN FORWARD IT TO GOOGLE INDIVIDUALS PLEASE DO THAT. SOS GOOGLE :)

Designer's explanation

The designer explains the meaning of the logo design:

LOGO DESIGNER - DEAR Mehran: Logo is not design professionally, anyway it stands for: 1- Blood drop: appreciation to the recent martyrs. 2- Dove: Freedom. It is in mirror of the blood drop, meaning that their blood will give us the freedom. 3- Iran's flag. 4- Green color of the fonts: the new green wave in Iran willing democracy and peace.

Mehran has left comments on this article.  One of her comments sums up at least some of the feelings of the people of Iran.  She wrote:

Mehran - This logo is cute, but it doesn't explain enough the pain we're all in. I think the blood should be somehow related to a dead bird. That's how our friends are being killed.

The struggles continue in Iran. And I continue to support the people.  I hope the future brings more freedom and more free elections to our friends in Iran.
