Today's Google logo is number five in the series of Sesame Street logos.  It features Elmo.  The other four were Big Bird, Cookie Monster, Ernie & Bert and Oscar, displayed in the last four days.

Elmo is the red friendly, cheerful Muppet.  He likes learning, laughing, looking at books, playing.  His pet goldfish is named Dorothy.

If the rumors are true, we should see more Sesame Street inspired Google logos until November 10th.  That is Sesame Street's 40th birthday.  More articles about Sesame Street's 40th.
