Family fun and educational opportunities at the Green Family Holiday Fair will be available throughout the day.

  • At 11:00 and again at noon, kids can meet and make a Critter Connection with some of the more than 40 creatures living in the lab at the museum.
  • At 11:30, young children with their parents or guardians can enjoy Discovery Time, an educational guided play program using books, puppets, and games.
  • At 1:00 p.m., visitors can witness the spectacle of a carnivorous soft shell turtle eating its lunch.
  • At 2:00 p.m., visitors can watch an amazing release of newly emerged adult butterflies into their habitat.

At some time during the day, Melissa Graham, the head of Purple Asparagus and The Sustainable Cook, will teach families how to instill children with an understanding and appreciation of where the food on their table comes from.
