How to make an American flag magnet
Around this time of year I like to start making arts and crafts projects for the Fourth of July, so I thought it would be fun to design a patriotic flag magnet that I could put on my fridge. Recently I have made several magnets by applying these to the back of cross stitched pieces such as one I made of a
Valentine heart pictured on the right. Creating this American flag magnet was so much fun, and now I plan on creating more pieces such as these in the months to come. Also in the picture of my fridge tyou can see that I painted a cartoonish looking dog that I turned into a magnet, which shows the versatilty of objects that can be turned into fridge decorations. If you want to make this manget here are the supplies I used:
- scissors
- mesh canvas for needlepoint
- a large tapestry needle
- red yarn
- white yarn
- blue yarn
- a black permanent marker
Handmade magnets are ideal for hanging pictures and other papers on the fridge, so this is one craft that definitely will have a use in many houses. Take a look at the slide show below to see how I created this Old Glory inspired magnet.
