Baby sleep week continues today with a the fantastic baby sleeping invention that has saved many parents on so many nights - swings! The right kind of swing is key to baby's and mommy and daddy's happiness. Old fashioned swings that are hard, rigid and sit up right aren't going to cut it. The type of swing that will bring cozy restful and safe sleep are cradle-like swings that have a newborn position that is laying down. This type has baby at a slight incline- which helps babies with reflux- while he or she sleeps.
The Papasan Swing by Fisher-Price has been a life saver for me. I used it with both of my girls and it had them sleeping through the night by about five weeks old until we moved them into a crib after a few months. We kept this swing near our bed so we could keep an eye on our little sleeping beauties. It's soft and has two positions - one for newborn sleeping and another for sitting up when baby is older and just wants to play or relax in it.
Dwell Studio Fisher Price Cradle Swing is my current choice of swing. It's basically an upgrade to Fisher Price's papasan swing. It has two positions like the above swing but has a simpler mobile (that doesn't waste battery power), an MP3 player outlet, and a much improved speed dial. This swing is stylish and apparently incredibly comfy, according to my son who loves to sleep in it. It's gender neutral with its brown, lime and teal color scheme. The MP3 plug at the top allows you can to play baby any music you want - or download any white noise you prefer to your iPod for your and your tot's enjoyment. Or if you'd rather you can play the built in while noise or music. This one also has an improved, sturdier base. It doesn't have a detachable tray with toys for baby to use once he is bigger like the previous model above though.
