The Washington Wizards earned their first back-to-back wins of the season in a 94-84 Southeast Division road victory over the Miami Heat Friday night and will look to continue their two game win streak as they host the Charlotte Bobcats tonight.
A little over a week ago the 'Cats acquired Stephen Jackson and gave up Raja Bell and Vladimir Radmanovic. Jackson has averaged 18.5 points per game in the last six for Charlotte since the trade and has complimented the all-around play of fantasy stud Gerald Wallace, who had 31 points, 14 rebounds, and 3 steals in a huge 94-87 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers yesterday.
Washington has Caron Butler back in their line-up, a rejuvenated Nick Young, who dropped a season-high 22 points in Miami Friday night, and a 110% healthy Antawn Jamison, who is averaging nearly 25 points and 11 rebounds this season after 5 starts. Jamison clocked 42 minutes yesterday, and this back-to-back will test his endurance. Then again, Jamison could probably make it through a week of back-to-backs.
Washington broke through a lot of barriers last night in Miami and their confidence has to be sky high. Gilbert Arenas is now 1-19 when facing Dwyane Wade, Washington is now 1-3 against their own division and can improve to 2-3 tonight, and what can you say about Young? 22 points and 5 assists, the most assists he has dished since March, 2008, the most minutes he has ever played, and the most shots put up. Will Young, the only Wizard to play all 82 games last season, be tired tonight? Unlikely. And after his defensive efforts against Dwyane Wade, who Washington limited to only 18 points after two 40+ performances, expect Young to clock quite a few minutes tonight as well.
Washington has the energy, but Charlotte has momentum as well, and tonight's game should be a fairly exciting one to watch. Tonight's game starts at 7:00 p.m. ET and will air on Comcast SportsNet and 106.7 The Fan. The game will also air nationally on NBATV.
