Taylor Swift: boys, touring & future in new Glamour

CLOTHESLINE: AIRING MUSIC CITY'S LAUNDRY:  Dolly & Maura 'Naked', Taylor Swift  gets Glamour, Kevin Skinner is country music's Susan Boyle, Pickler not with beer entrepreneur Kid Rock, Miley Cyrus movie critic, Big Fat Greek cougar Nia Vardalos and Lady A's Charles Kelley married again.

Irish-born songstress Maura O'Connell got a little help from her friends with her latest CD release titled, Naked: With Friends. The June release features a mix of Irish and English lyrics and guest vocals by Dolly, Alison Krauss, Jerry Douglas, Sarah Dugas of The Duhks and many others.

As news spread that Kevin Jonas had become engaged, the Twitter-verse exploded with some pretty funny comments. My favorite, My Big Fat Greek Wedding's Nia Vardalos proved, despite her current box office bomb My Life In Ruins, that she is indeed a very funny woman by tweeting, "Kevin Jonas is engaged. I am one pissed off cougar."

In more Twitter fun, Miley Cyrus, who is on location for her new movie, The Last Song, continues to entertain the Twitter community, by turning movie critic as she tweeted about continuity issues with the scary movie she was watching. The movie was Cape Fear. I'm guessing it's the remake, not the classic, and yes, I know she probably doesn't know it's a remake.

Fellow country darlin' Taylor Swift began a partnership with fashion brand L.E.I. last year as she lent her name to a line of sundresses available exclusively at Wal-Mart. L.E.I. is predominately known for their line of jeans, so it only makes sense that Taylor is now featured in a new fall and winter back to school promotion in a cute denim layout.  Not one to slow while the iron is hot, the August issue of Glamour, which hits stands tomorrow, features Taylor as their cover girl. The accompanying article is  typical Taylor, with the teen star's reaction to everything from career and family life to future goals. Among her long term goals, "I'd love to move out of my parent's," she told the fashion mag.

Miley and Taylor aren't the only teen queens making headlines. Taylor's BFF, Kellie Pickler has been the subject of tabloid rumors which report the former Idol is dating Kid Rock. Word has it the two became better acquainted at the recent CMT Awards, where both acted as presenters, Kellie with Idol judge, Randy Jackson and Kid with duet partner Sheryl Crowe. Kellie's rep told The Tennessean the rumors are just that, rumors. Thank God!

Kid may not be dating Kellie, but the rocker-turned-country-bad-boy is about to court a major consumer market. In conjunction with his July 17 concert in his hometown of Detroit, Kid will unveil his American Badass Beer. Kid isn't the first celeb to lend their fame to brew. Back in the late 70's then-President Jimmy Carter's brother launched his own Billy Beer, and as recent as 2007, Larry the Cable Guy's catchphrase, Git-R-Done was immortalized in suds by the Schilling Bridge brewery.

In other marketing news, Tanya Tucker joins the ever-growing list of musicians to have their own iPhone app to promote her fantastic new CD, My Turn. The free download, is available at the iTunes website.

Also from iTunes, Rascal Flatts has been named the first country artist to team with iTunes for their popular exclusive content and pre-release program, iTunes Pass. Beginning July 21, fans can purchase a Rascal Flatts iTunes Pass for $16.99. The pass will then offer fans weekly exclusive content, including live recordings, studio rehearsal clips and more.  The boys from Rascal Flatts were also featured in last night's episode of Style Networks' popular Ruby. The show revolved around Ruby dealing with a death in the family and her desire to see the trio in concert. The show will be rebroadcast throughout the week.

Another popular reality show, America's Got Talent had viewers and country music fans sitting up and taking notice last week as Kevin Skinner's appearance on the talent competition show gave us our very own Susan Boyle. When the backwards-baseball-cap-wearing, twang-talkin', unemployed self-proclaimed chicken catcher took to the stage, the audience laughed, as did judge Sharon Osborne, but when he strummed his guitar and sang Garth Brooks' If Tomorrow Never Comes, the audience reacted much like their British counterparts when Boyle belted her first number. As he concluded his audition, the audience stood and cheered and judge David Hasselhoff shockingly state, "Wow."

Like so many others, Nashville's celebs took to the airways during the holiday weekend. Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert boarded separate planes this weekend. No, the happy off-stage duo aren't having relationship problems, Blake boarded a plane to NYC to perform on this morning's Good Morning America, while Miranda jetted off to Dallas for last night's Beyonce concert.

Also hopping a plane were Lady Antebellum's Charles Kelley and his new bride Cassie. The recently wedded couple took the opportunity of the extended holiday weekend to fly to the Bahamas for their dream ceremony. While they officially married here in Nashville a few short weeks ago, their destination wedding had to wait because of tour obligations and the legal process of US citizens marrying in the Bahamas.
